Designing an award show
Each year, Communities in Schools of Georgia hosts the Champions Awards luncheon. An event designed to recognize students who have overcome major barriers to succeed in school and mentors who have gone above and beyond to provide resources for children and their families. CIS approached us to rebrand the Champions Awards with the goal to attract more ticket sales and sponsors.
We sat down with new hires at CIS to get an outside point-of-view of the brand. Many felt the previous branding of the Champions Awards was flat and lacked the edge that many brands use today. They wanted their event, to be viewed as an award show.
Because CIS had a strong connection to their previous logo and a “Champion Mindset“, we combined the two. The Good Pixel created a 3 dimensional trophy that incorporates their existing logo. Finally, we gave the logo a towering perspective to give the event the triumphant feeling it deserves.
Along with the logo came elements to provide depth. This included 4-color gradients, slanted structure, and lighting effects; all designed to address the flatness of CIS’s branding. Our goal was to create elements that could operate independently in different mediums without the logo.
